The New Ziggurat

On Sunday 20th May 2012, an intrepid band of SPIOTA volunteers combined with Frazer and John Johnston to deliver and erect the new Ziggurat in Market Square in Stokesley.

These photographs were taken by Derek Whiting, and document the assembly and finishing process. There will be a replanting prior to the Jubilee on 2nd June. Click a photograph to see a larger version.

The new ziggurat was designed and built by Frazer Johnston, of Newby.

At the moment (25 May 2012) the ziggurat still need some stainless steel plates adding, and the electrical supply still needs connecting, for lighting the topknot, but both of these matters should be attended to shortly, and of course the imminent replanting will considerably enhance the display.
